Why I built this

The reason I created this app

Every time I traveled abroad, I always felt uneasy. I simply couldn't tell if I was paying the correct amount. So I created it myself. It's called Fairit.

I experienced the same inconveniences on every trip. Receipts I couldn't read, the frustration of having no way to compare prices and see if I was being overcharged, and moments where I just had to trust the number on the screen and hand over my card. It wasn't that any specific store was bad — the problem was that when spending money overseas, there wasn't even a simple tool to give me the assurance that "this place is transparent."

Fairit is the app my past self desperately wanted. Simply snap a picture of your receipt, and every item is translated into your language; prices are converted into your familiar local currency; and you can check in real time how much other travelers actually paid before swiping your card.

We've just taken our first step and are growing the app by transparently sharing every step of the development process. If anything is still lacking or broken, please let us know at any time. I will personally read and incorporate all the feedback you send me.
